March 2010
Mar 27-28: Vanguard Vizslas win again! This time at the Irish Setter Club of Ohio field trial at the Tri-Valley Wildlife area in Dresden, OH. Both Rei and Reco ran in the open Derby stake with 17 starters. Rei was announced the winner with a strong forward race and 2 beautiful finds. Reco had an incredible run and was making extremely large casts throughout the entire brace. Unfortunately I lost him to the front with several minutes left and had to pull the tracker. From the parking lot at Tri-Valley you could see the entire course and we received a lot of compliments on Reco’s run. What a way to end their puppy/derby careers!
Mar 13-14: Another winning weekend for Vanguard Vizslas!! This time at the new field trial grounds located south of Dresden, OH. The Buckeye Brittany Club hosted an enormous trial with somewhere near 180 entries and running three courses all weekend! Rei came away as the winner of the Amateur Derby and Reco was announced the winner of the Open Derby. To cap off the weekend Roxie got around clean with one find. But with a 28+ entry Open Limited stake her two steps to the left to mark was a bit much for the judges. With as bad a winter that we had…I’m very please with how this spring is progressing!
Mar 6-7: After winning the Futurity with Josie we stuck around for the weekend Vizsla Club of Illinois trial at Des Plaines Wildlife grounds south of Joliet, IL. Reco took 2nd in Amateur Derby and a 3rd in Open Derby; Rei took a 4th in Open Derby. Roxie ran in one of the gun dog stakes and took about a foot hop forward on her second bird so we picked her up.
While I was in Illinois, River was with show handler Helen Witt at the Detroit Kennel club benched shows. River won the open bitch class Saturday and ended up going Reserve Winners and Sunday she took 2nd in the open bitch class. Overall not a bad weekend of field trialing and showing!!
Mar 5: Vanguard Vizslas is pleased to announce the 2010 Midwest Vizsla Field Futurity winner, Josie – Tiszabec’s Josie Of Vanguard, JH. Thank you to both Robert Richter and Howard Burbach for judging and selecting Josie as the 2010 winner. Thank you to everyone involved with putting the Futurity on…defiantly a class event and each year I’ve come to this the dogs and the event just keep getting better. Josie is owned by Paul and Geri Primeaux of Livionia, NY and was handled and trained by Matt & Ruth Rogers.
A very special thank you to Paul and Geri Primeaux for giving Josie the opportunity to develop the way she should and giving us the chance to run her. She’s got a very bright future in front of her and we look forward to continuing on with her.

Feb 2010
Feb 19 - 21: Well Tennessee was sure a lot nicer than Ohio! High 60’s-low 70’s made for perfect field trial weather at the Percy Priest field trial grounds outside of Nashville. A couple of items to report, Rei took 2nd place in the open derby and Reco took 4th place in the open derby. Probably the biggest news Roxie made it around clean in the Open Gundog with three stylish finds and made call backs sitting in second place. Of course alittle handler error on callbacks caused us to miss out on a placement. But for getting around clean and making callbacks it really made the weekend worth while.
Still have snow sitting on the ground everywhere…I’m about ready to move south!
Feb 13: Well seems like the fall trial season just finished up and now were only weeks away from the spring trial season. Unfortunately most of the eastern US has been blanketed in snow for much of January and hit by several large storms that dumped feet of snow on us during the month of February. However, I’m sure spring will soon show itself and will be back to enjoying everything we do with our dogs. In fact you’ll want to check out our planned litters page for the exciting litter we’ve got planned…for more info click below.
